Cleared for Take Off? Managing Cybersecurity Compliance in the Aviation Industry
Security compliance, risk, and maturity are tightly interlinked, and the once-overlooked “ugly sister” of security is now taking center stage. As organizations evolve, compliance has shifted from a checklist exercise to a critical driver of operational resilience and risk reduction. Rapid changes in national legislation—such as NIS2 in the EU and CISA’s CIRCIA in the United States—as well as new aviation-specific regulations like EASA Part-IS significantly raise the bar. At the same time, globally distributed supply chains, multinational operations, and increasingly sophisticated threats make it harder to maintain consistent and verifiable compliance. In this environment, higher maturity levels are essential: they enable proactive governance, adaptive controls, and continuous monitoring, helping organizations stay aligned with regulatory expectations while effectively managing security risk.
